Coach Engin Firat has announced the final Harambee Stars squad for Kenya’s upcoming 2024 CHAN CECAFA qualifiers. As Kenya prepares for a crucial two-legged showdown against South Sudan, the national team aims to make a strong impact despite already securing a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament as co-hosts. The first leg is set for October 27, 2024, in Juba, with the return match on November 3 in Uganda.

Coach Engin Firat has announced the final Harambee Stars squad for the 2024 Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN) CECAFA qualifiers. The team is set for a critical two-legged encounter against South Sudan.

Kenya has already secured a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament as one of the co-hosts, alongside Uganda and Tanzania. However, the national team aims to make a strong impression during the qualifiers.

The first leg against South Sudan is scheduled for October 27, 2024, at Juba International Stadium, kicking off at 3 PM. The return leg will take place on November 3, 2024, at 4 PM at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.

A win against South Sudan will see Kenya advance to the final phase of the qualifiers, where they will face the winner of the Djibouti versus Rwanda match-up. The final phase is set for December 20-27, 2024.

Boost for the CECAFA Region

For the first time, CAF has allowed three countries—Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania—to co-host the CHAN tournament. With their automatic qualifications, the CECAFA region will see greater representation in the competition. Additionally, the region has been granted an extra qualification spot, providing a chance for one more CECAFA team to join the tournament.

The Harambee Stars are expected to travel to Juba on Friday, October 25, 2024, ahead of the first leg.
