Two Kenyan referees shortlisted for 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN)

Kenyan referees Dickens Mimisa and Samuel Kuria are set to join top African match officials in Cairo for a pre-CHAN training camp, ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Kenyan referees Dickens Mimisa and Samuel Kuria have been selected to attend a pre-2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) training and evaluation camp. Mimisa, a promising center referee, and Kuria, an assistant referee, are among 63 officials invited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a five-day program from December 4 to 9 in Cairo, Egypt.
The training is designed to prepare 25 center referees, 22 assistant referees, and 10 VAR officials for the upcoming CHAN, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, starting February 1. The course will focus on updates to refereeing protocols, rules, and technology.

This session also serves as the final selection process for CHAN officials. In addition to the Kenyan referees, Uganda and Tanzania, as co-hosts, will also send representatives. Kenya’s last representation in CHAN was Peter Kamaku, who served as a VAR official in Algeria, shortly after FIFA lifted its suspension of Kenya due to governance issues in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
Kenya is finalizing preparations for the event, with Kasarani Stadium undergoing renovations and Kenya Police FC Sacco and Ulinzi Sports Complex earmarked as potential training sites for teams.
