Kenyan footballer Marjolene Nekesa wrapped up 2023 as the 22nd highest-scoring female player worldwide.
The 25-year-old scored an impressive total of 26 goals, dividing her contributions between Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic and the national women's senior team Harambee Starlets.

Nekesa's remarkable tally includes 19 goals in the Czech League, three in the Czech National Cup, three in the Czech Women's FA Cup, and an additional goal for the Kenyan national team.
These rankings are according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
Malawi's Temwa Chawinga secured the top spot as the leading female goal-scorer of 2023, making history as the first non-European to achieve this honour. The 25-year-old succeeded Jenni Hermoso of Spain (2021) and Dutch striker Fenna Kalma (2022), becoming only the third winner of the award since its inception for women.

Chawinga's extraordinary total of 63 goals in all competitions also meant she outperformed every male player in 2023, as reported by Forbes.
