Abdigacaney FC claims victory in week-long Eiben ward tournament in Wajir County

An exciting football tournament took place in Mansa, Elben ward, on Friday, January 5, 2024.
The tournament lasted almost a week and ended with a thrilling final match between Elben FC and Abdigacaney FC. The game ended in a 1-1 draw at full time, leading to extra time and a nail-biting penalty shootout.

In the end, Abdigacaney FC emerged as the champions, winning with a 5-4 penalty shootout.
The closing ceremony, which doubled as the prize-giving event, was attended by several dignitaries, including the ward MCA Hon. Yussuf Mohamud. Also present were Wajir CEC Education Wardere, CEC Public Service Farhiya Abdille, CCO Sports Hanshi, and other top county government officials.
The event was not just about the overall winners; individual players received recognition for their exceptional performances. Issack Ismail from Mansa FC was awarded as the league's top scorer. Issack Hussein from Elben FC was honoured as the best goalkeeper, demonstrating exceptional saves and shot-stopping abilities. Mohamed Aden Mukhtar from Mansa FC was the best player, contributing significantly to his team's success.
Sportsmanship and discipline were also applauded during the tournament. Sangow FC received recognition as the most disciplined team, highlighting their fair play and commitment to respecting the rules throughout the competition.
