The 2024 CAF Awards will gather Africa’s finest football talents and legendary icons in a glittering ceremony at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco. Scheduled for Monday evening, the event will celebrate the year’s top performers while reflecting on decades of African football heritage.

The 2024 CAF Awards will bring together some of Africa’s greatest football stars, past and present, in a grand ceremony set for Monday at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco. The event, starting at 9PM East African time, will celebrate the continent’s football achievements over the past year.

This annual gala not only honours the best players, coaches, and teams but also provides a platform to reflect on the rich history of African football through the presence of iconic Legends.

Among the attendees will be Kenya’s new FKF President Hussein Mohammed and his Deputy McDonald Mariga, joining the celebration of Africa’s football excellence.

Ex-Mali midfielder Seydou Keita, who won multiple titles with FC Barcelona, including two UEFA Champions League trophies, will grace the event. Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan, known for his flair, will also attend. Zidan was part of Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning squads in 2008 and 2010 and secured back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund.

Kenya’s Victor Wanyama, a key figure in the country’s qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, will be among the honoured guests. Former Cameroon goalkeeper Joseph Antoine Bell, a veteran of three FIFA World Cups, and double Olympic 800-metres champion Caster Semenya will also make appearances.

Women’s football will have strong representation, with South Africa’s Portia Modise, Ghana’s Alberta Sackey, and Equatorial Guinea’s Genoveva Añonman all in attendance. Modise remains celebrated for scoring 101 goals for South Africa.

Fabrice Akwa, who captained Angola to their historic 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification, will also feature. His decisive goal against Rwanda that secured Angola’s spot in Germany remains a proud moment for the country.
