University of Nairobi ranked top in latest university rankings beating KU

The rankings were based on factors such as academic and employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations in research, and international research collaborations.
The University of Nairobi (UoN) has emerged as the top university in Kenya, according to the latest rankings by EduRank, surpassing its rival Kenyatta University (KU).
UoN was ranked 805th globally and 8th in Africa, marking significant progress due to its research output, with over 20,000 academic publications, offering the best courses that recorded the highest admission and its impact from more than 100 notable alumni, including President William Ruto, Lawyer James Orengo and Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Kenyatta University (KU) secured the second spot in Kenya, ranking 2135th globally and 36th in Africa.
KU is noted for its 8,541 academic publications and 85,581 citations, along with 16 notable alumni.
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) came in third, ranked 2613th globally, bolstered by its 10,000 academic publications and notable alumni contributions.
Strathmore University ranked fourth in Kenya, positioned 3100th globally with over 1,000 publications and 10,000 citations, while Mount Kenya University took fifth place, ranked 3203rd globally, with more than 2,000 publications and 8,435 citations.
Other universities in the top 10 include Moi University, Egerton University, Technical University of Kenya, Catholic University, and Pwani University.
