The company confirmed that while the bus veered off the road and landed in a ditch, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Super Metro Bus Company has spoken out after one of its buses was involved in a crash along Thika Road at the Jomoko area on Saturday morning.

The company confirmed that while the bus veered off the road and landed in a ditch, no injuries or casualties were reported.

According to the company, preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a white saloon car, which was reportedly overloaded with jerrycans of Muratina.

Witnesses observed the vehicle swerving recklessly before it collided with the side of the bus. In an attempt to avoid further impact, the bus driver swerved, leading the vehicle off the road.

The matter was immediately reported to the authorities and is currently being handled by Thika Police Station. Super Metro has advised anyone seeking official updates to contact the police for further details.

Reaffirming its commitment to safety, the company stated that it remains dedicated to upholding high road safety standards and following traffic regulations.

“The safety of our passengers, drivers, and other road users is our top priority. We are cooperating fully with the police as they investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event,” the company said.

Super Metro resumed operations after the court temporarily lifted the suspension imposed by the National Transport and Safety Authority.

The Transport Licensing Appeal Board, in an order issued on Monday, March 24, 2025, gave the transport company the green light to resume operations immediately.

"An interim order is hereby issued staying the execution/enforcement/ operation of the decision of the respondents dated March 18, 2025, suspending the operation of the appellant herein Super Metro Sacco Limited as a PSV operator," the order by board chairman Adrian Kamotho read in part.

"The appellant is at liberty to immediately resume operations in due compliance with the law."

The respondent in the motion is the National Transport and Safety Authority ( NTSA).

Kamotho also ordered that the document be served upon the Inspector General of Police, immediately.

Super metro operations were suspended on Thursday by the NTSA.

NTSA, while suspending the PSV operations, said the decision was to ensure the company is compliant with road safety measures.
