According to the DCI, the suspects, identified as Sipholi Sam Wafula alias Sande, Alex Ogomba, Mohammed Musa, and Clinton Wafula, are believed to be behind a string of armed robberies reported in Nairobi and the Western region.
The suspects are part of an organised gang whose modus operandi had been analysed by detectives from the DCI’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) in advance of Thursday night’s pursuit.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the three Ugandan nationals had re-entered Kenya through the Malaba border on Wednesday, having fled to Uganda after allegedly committing a violent robbery in Eastleigh.
“The swift arrest of the four thwarted a planned robbery at a business premise on Eastleigh’s 12th Street. Other accomplices in the planned attack managed to escape but have been identified and are being pursued,” the DCI confirmed.

Police believe the trio have been staging robberies in Kenya before fleeing back to Uganda to evade capture — a pattern described as a cat-and-mouse game to conceal their criminal activities.
Upon confirming their return, the DCI’s Operation Action Team, in collaboration with their counterparts from the Intelligence Bureau, launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of all four suspects in Nairobi’s Dandora, Saika, Pumwani, and Huruma estates.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of two pistols, an AK-47 rifle, and 50 rounds of ammunition.
According to police reports, Sipholi was the first to fall into the police dragnet. During interrogation, he led officers to his rented house in Saika, where a Falcon pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition was discovered hidden under a pillow.
Shortly after, Alex Ogomba was apprehended and led detectives to his residence in Dandora slums, where an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds was found concealed beneath a couch.
"Brief interrogation of the two suspects led detectives to the home of Mohammed Musa in the Huruma area, where he resides with his family. It has since been established that he is the owner of the AK-47 rifle," the DCI said.
The Kenyan member of the gang, Clinton Wafula, who resides in Githurai 45 and is believed to be the ringleader, was arrested in Pumwani.
According to police, Wafula has been the chief planner of the gang’s operations. At the time of his arrest, he had a Palleberum FÉG 9mm pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition tucked in his waistband.
The suspects have been handed over to DCI Starehe for processing. An identification parade is scheduled for today ahead of their arraignment in court.
