WhatsApp to introduce custom message reminders to boost productivity

By long-pressing a message, users can flag it and schedule a reminder notification to revisit it later, ensuring that important tasks, deadlines, or discussions aren’t forgotten.
WhatsApp is set to roll out a new feature that will let users set custom reminders for specific messages, aimed at improving organisation, productivity, and communication management within the app.

The upcoming update will allow users to set personalised reminders for individual messages in both private and group chats.
By long-pressing a message, users can flag it and schedule a reminder notification to revisit it later, ensuring that important tasks, deadlines, or discussions aren’t forgotten.
Currently, WhatsApp only offers tools like starred messages or pinned chats, which help mark important content but do not provide timed reminders.
The new feature bridges this gap by integrating a “Set Reminder” option directly within the chat interface. Users will be able to choose a specific date and time for the alert.
Push notification
Once the reminder goes off, WhatsApp will send a push notification that links directly to the selected message, removing the need to scroll through long chat histories.
The feature is expected to work across both one-on-one and group chats, making it particularly useful for work-related conversations, planning events, or coordinating with large teams.
Although WhatsApp hasn’t announced an official release date, the feature is expected to launch in the coming months, likely rolling out to beta testers before a wider release.
