The event will take place at the Kinarini Stadium in Matuga Sub-county. The stadium, currently under construction, is expected to have a seating capacity of about 40,000 people. The technical team, led by Principal Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Anne Ngetich, inspected the half-completed stadium.
"We are going to fast-track the construction to ensure the stadium is ready by October 20," said Governor Fatuma.
Governor Fatuma assured the technical team of her administration's support for the scheduled celebrations and commended President William Ruto for choosing Kwale County to host the national event.
"Hosting the event in our county will open up Kwale to many opportunities and boost the tourism sector. People from all over the country will be visiting Kwale," she said.
Mashujaa Day celebrations are held annually to honour the heroes and heroines who contributed to Kenya's struggle for independence and those who have positively impacted the country post-independence.
