There are no incidences of injection attacks in Eastleigh- gov't officials

By |

The authorities and business leaders in Eastleigh assured the public that the area is safe.

Recent reports claiming that unknown assailants are injecting unsuspecting individuals with substances in Eastleigh have been firmly dismissed by local officials.

Kamukunji Deputy County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi, Eastleigh Division Assistant County Commissioner Mohamed Adow, and Eastleigh Business District Association Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Adan have all refuted these allegations, describing them as baseless.

The troubling messages that have circulated widely on social media, particularly through WhatsApp, suggest that attacks are taking place in busy public areas such as BBS Mall, Garissa Lodge, and Jam Street.

"The attackers vanish into the crowd, leaving victims confused and frightened. Stay alert, and if you feel a sudden pinch or unusual contact, immediately check your surroundings and seek medical attention," read part of the misleading message.

Responding to these claims, Mwiwawi stated that he first heard of the reports from his Assistant County Commissioner and emphasised that there was no evidence supporting the existence of such incidents.

"I first heard about these reports from my Assistant County Commissioner, but there is no substantial proof that these attacks are happening. No one has reported being a victim of such incidents," Mwiwawi said.

"I want to promise the people of Eastleigh that their safety is our priority and if such a person indeed exists, we shall take action," he added.

Assistant County Commissioner Mohamed also criticised the reports, labelling them as mere propaganda.

"Those reports were propaganda and such things do not exist in Eastleigh," he said.

The ACC suggested that the intent behind these rumours is to create fear and disrupt Eastleigh's business environment.

"Those spreading such rumours have issues with the business community; they are against the booming business in Eastleigh," he said.

Mohamed confirmed that no one had come forward with complaints about being a victim of such attacks.

Mohamed Adan, CEO of the Eastleigh Business District Association (EBDA), also dismissed the reports as "myths" explaining that EBDA had conducted an investigation and found no evidence supporting the claims.

"We have looked into these reports and found no complaints or evidence of such incidents. The rumours about BBS Mall and other busy places are being propagated by those competing with our businesses," Mohamed said.

He urged the government to investigate the origins of the message and take appropriate action against those responsible.
