President Ruto: Social Health Authority will work despite experiencing challenges

Ruto emphasised that SHA aims to provide medical coverage for all Kenyans, regardless of their financial status.
President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the government’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme, under the Social Health Authority (SHA), will overcome its initial hurdles and be successfully implemented.
Speaking during a Sunday service at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, Nairobi County, President Ruto acknowledged the challenges facing the scheme but reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every Kenyan has access to quality healthcare.

“It is the biggest programme we have in the country. It may take time for things to align but believe you me – it is going to work,” he said.
He was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and several members of Parliament.
The president emphasised that SHA aims to provide medical coverage for all Kenyans, regardless of their financial status.
He noted that in the past, health insurance was primarily accessible to those in formal employment or those who could afford private coverage.
Governor Sakaja urged Kenyans to register with SHA, stressing that it would be instrumental in ensuring access to quality healthcare services.
Beyond healthcare, President Ruto highlighted ongoing government efforts to create job opportunities for young people, citing the export of labour programme as a key initiative.
“Instead of engaging in blame games, we can work together to find solutions to our problems,” he said.
