In a statement released on Saturday, Chief Executive Officer Fred Siyoi cautioned stakeholders to comply with the Board's registration requirements or face severe penalties, including the seizure of products, revocation of licenses, and prosecution.

Mandated to safeguard public health, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulates the pharmacy profession and ensures access to quality, safe, effective, and affordable health products and technologies.

However, the Board has expressed concern over the rising influx of unregistered pharmaceutical products in the market, many of which pose risks to public health.

It has also directed the ceasing of trading, importing, or handling unregistered pharmaceutical products, including those listed in the Indian Pharmacopoeia.

It directs all pharmaceutical products are duly registered and approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and strictly adhere to the requirements of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act and other relevant regulations.

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board at the same time urged all stakeholders to prioritise compliance, warning that failure to do so will result in stringent regulatory actions. These include product seizures, license revocations, and legal prosecution as outlined in the law.
