Somali roots, global reach: Hodan Hassan visits East Africa to foster cooperation

Minnesota State Representative Hodan Hassan embarked on familiarization tour of the Horn of Africa region, where she is expected to meet government and community leaders in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.
She touched down at JKIA in Nairobi on Saturday, where she was warmly received by a cross section of the Somali community in Nairobi including political leaders, traders, elders, women and youth groups.

Hodan arrived in Mogadishu on Monday to witness Somalia's developmental progress firsthand. She extended congratulations to the Somali government for noteworthy achievements, including joining the East African Community, the lifting of the arms embargo, debt cancellation, and the successful military campaign against Al-Shabaab militants.
Upon her arrival in Mogadishu, Hodan stated “we are to witness the remarkable progress the country has achieved in recent years and to find ways to contribute. Through dialogue, ideas, and advice, we are proud to support Somalia's journey towards even greater milestones,"
