The Council of Governors (CoG) has unanimously elected new leadership to head its Executive and Technical committees for the next one year.

The elections, conducted through consensus, saw governors take up key committee roles aimed at strengthening devolution and enhancing service delivery in counties.

A total of 18 governors were appointed to lead various committees. They include Fernandes Barasa (Finance), Abdulswamad Nassir (Health), Kenneth Lusaka (Agriculture), Wilber Ottichilo (Environment), and Gladys Wanga (Human Resources). Others are Erick Mutai (Education), Simon Kachapin (Sports), and Wisley Rotich (ICT).

The new Executive Leadership team comprises Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi as Chairperson, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga as Vice Chairperson, and Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki as Whip. The team pledged to prioritise the operationalisation of the Devolution Training Institute, the implementation of the 2022–2027 Strategic Plan, and the full transfer of devolved functions.
