National Police Service Commission advertises for Deputy IG positions
All interested and qualified applicants have until Wednesday, July 17 at 5 pm to submit their applications.
The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has advertised vacancies for the two Deputy Inspector General positions following the reassignment of the former holders.
"The National Police Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified serving police officers who wish to be considered for the position of Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service and Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service," reads the notice dated July 13, 2024

All interested and qualified applicants have until Wednesday, July 17, at 5 pm to submit their applications.

"Manual applications should be hand-delivered to the office of the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive officer situated at 9th-floor CBK Pension Towers," reads the notice further.
Redeployment
Last Friday, President William Ruto announced the redeployment of former Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service, Noor Gabow within the Public Service.
State House Spokesman Hussein Mohamed said President Ruto appointed James Kamau as acting head of the AP in place of Gabow.
"In accordance with Section 17 of the National Police Service Act, His Excellency the President has caused the deployment of Noor Gabow, CBS within the Public Service," the statement read.
The Head of State stated that the changes were made on the recommendation of the National Police Service Commission, pursuant to Section 13 of the National Police Service Act.
Until his redeployment, Gabow led the Kenyan reconnaissance team to Haiti, which visited the Caribbean country ahead of the first tranche of 400 officers on June 25, 2024.
Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Douglas Kanja, was named Acting Inspector General of the National Police Service.
Kanja is deputised by former General Service Unit Commandant Eliud Lagat (Kenya Police Service) and former National Police College, Embakasi "A" Campus Commandant James Kamau (Administration Police Service) in acting capacities.
The handover ceremony took place at the NPS Headquarters on Friday afternoon.
Gabow also served as a commissioner at the National Police Service Commission. Previously, Kanja was the General Service Unit commandant.
He has also served in various capacities, including as the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Commandant of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), and the Director of Operations at the National Police Service (NPS).
