Ali Roba raises concerns over parliamentary committee's potential referendum preparations

Senator Ali Roba, the former Governor of Mandera and leader of the UDM party, affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, has raised concerns about the trajectory of the Parliamentary Committee on National Dialogue.

Senator Ali Roba, the former Governor of Mandera and leader of the UDM party, affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, has raised concerns about the trajectory of the Parliamentary Committee on National Dialogue. He warns that what initially aimed to reconcile President William Ruto and his rival, the leader of the Azimio Alliance, Raila Odinga, has inadvertently transformed into what seems like a committee preparing for a referendum, representing only a fraction of the many stakeholders in the country.

Adding to the confusion, Senator Ali Roba points out that the committee has proceeded to collect opinions from those who choose to present themselves at Bomas, seemingly ignoring the essential requirements of public participation.

According to Senator Ali, the committee's true mandate and boundaries remain unclear. He asserts that the committee has exceeded its reconciliatory role between Ruto and Raila and appears to be orchestrating a potential referendum with profound consequences. If indeed the intention is to lead Kenya into a referendum, Senator Ali urges that Kenyans should be informed so they can participate accordingly within the bounds of the law.
