Kenyan rugby community mourns loss of flanker Anthony Oyugi

Oyugi was a significant figure in rugby, fondly remembered for his passion for the game from his high school days at St. Mary’s High School to his time with Strathmore Leos and later joining Impala RFC.

The Kenyan rugby community is in sorrow after the sudden passing of flanker Anthony Oyugi.
The sad news was shared by Impala RFC and the Kenya Rugby Union on their respective Twitter handles.
In their statement, KRU expressed the heaviness in their hearts as they remembered Anthony Oyugi, a valued member of the rugby fraternity.
Our hearts are heavy as we remember Anthony Oyugi, a cherished member of the Rugby fraternity.
A former St. Mary's School, Strathmore Leos and Impala flanker, he also represented Kenya U20 at the 2009 World Rugby Junior Trophy.

Oyugi was a significant figure in rugby, fondly remembered for his passion for the game from his high school days at St. Mary’s High School to his time with Strathmore Leos and later joining Impala RFC.
In 2009, Oyugi earned the honour of representing the country in the World Under-20 squad, leading the team to victory in the provisional title and actively participating in the Dubai 7s School Category.
His contributions continued in 2011 when Oyugi played a pivotal role in the Bamburi Rugby Super Series, featuring with the SDV Transami Cheetahs alongside Biko Adema and Innocent Simiyu, champions from 2004 and 2006.
