Kenya U20 to skip Morocco camp, travel directly to Egypt for AFCON

Kenya U20 Men’s National Team has cancelled its planned pre-AFCON camp in Morocco and will instead travel directly to Egypt on April 21. The change follows a redraw that placed Kenya in the same group as Morocco at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Kenya's U20 Men’s National Team will no longer hold a 10-day training camp in Morocco as earlier planned, and will instead head straight to Egypt on Monday, 21st April 2025, ahead of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Rising Stars were initially scheduled to pitch camp in Morocco as part of a partnership under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The agreement was meant to facilitate high-level technical cooperation, including hosting of training camps.
However, a recent redraw of the tournament groups has seen Kenya placed in Group B alongside hosts Morocco, as well as Nigeria and Tunisia - making it untenable for the team to conduct its final preparations in a country they will now face in the group stage.

According to an update published on the FKF portal, the team will now finalise its build-up in Cairo, where all three of their group matches will also be played.
Kenya will begin their campaign on Thursday, 1st May 2025 at 10:00 PM EAT against Morocco. The second match is against Tunisia on Sunday, 4th May at 7:00 PM EAT, followed by their final group fixture against Nigeria on Wednesday, 7th May at 7:00 PM EAT. All matches will take place at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
The 2025 edition of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations runs from 27th April to 18th May, with games scheduled across Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez.
This marks a return to continental action for the Rising Stars, who will be hoping to make a strong impression against some of Africa’s traditional football powerhouses.
