Ndindi Nyoro: No one consulted me before my removal as budget chair

Nyoro maintained that he would not engage in political fights. “I would not be provoked to answer evil with evil. Neither will I be provoked to answer an insult with insult,” he said.
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has faulted the manner in which he was removed as the chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, stating that no Kenya Kwanza leader consulted him before the decision was made.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Nyoro revealed that he was not informed about his removal and only learned about it through the media.

“There is no one who has ever called me to say anything about this. I read in newspapers about myself. I also don’t know,” Nyoro said.
His removal from the influential committee has been linked to allegations that he disproportionately allocated funds to his Kiharu constituency at the expense of others. In Parliament, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah said that some MPs used their positions in committees to benefit their constituencies.
In response to the claims, Nyoro maintained that he would not engage in political fights. “I would not be provoked to answer evil with evil. Neither will I be provoked to answer an insult with insult,” he said.
“I am grateful to the Kenyan people for allowing me to serve in that capacity, especially at a time when our country needed us to fulfil our mandate.”
Despite the controversy, the MP insisted that he holds no resentment over the matter. “I hold no grudge against anyone,” he said, reiterating that no Kenya Kwanza leader engaged him before his ouster.
Nyoro’s remarks come after months of political silence from the legislator, who was once seen as a close ally of President William Ruto. His low profile has been linked to his close association with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was ousted in 2024.
His position as the budget chair was taken over by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, a member of the opposition ODM party. The reshuffle also saw allies of Gachagua removed from key parliamentary leadership positions.
At the same time, Nyoro acknowledged the growing anticipation among Kenyans regarding his political future but said he would wait for the right moment.
“I know people have expectations about what I should say, when, and how. I receive messages every day advising me on what to do and how to do it,” he said.
