KQ increases flights to Kisumu ahead of Raila's funeral in Bondo
The funeral ceremony will be attended by politicians, visiting heads of state, state officials, dignitaries from all walks of life, close friends, and family.
Kenya Airways (KQ) has increased the number of flights to Kisumu this weekend to accommodate high demand following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In a statement on Friday, the national carrier said it had also upgraded several flights on the route to larger Boeing 737 aircraft to carry more passengers.

“We've increased our flight frequency to Kisumu over the weekend to meet high travel demand,” the airline said.
Additional flights on Friday, October 17, include KQ656 at 1:30 pm and KQ658 at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, October 18, an extra flight, KQ650, will depart at 6:50 am, while KQ654 at 8:05 am has been upgraded to a Boeing 737.
On Sunday, October 19, flights KQ654 (8.05 am) and KQ671 (7:00 pm) will both operate on Boeing 737s. Monday will also see KQ654 and KQ670 use Boeing 737s.
Odinga will be buried on Sunday during a private ceremony at his ancestral home in Bondo.
Preparations for the final rites and burial are being coordinated by a funeral committee led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Odinga’s brother Oburu Odinga, involving multiple trips between the city and his home.
