Mashujaa Day chief guest fails to attend celebrations

Angola's President João Lourenço was unable to attend Kenya's 60th Mashujaa Day celebrations, despite being expected as the chief guest. His absence, explained by Angolan Foreign Minister Tete António, was due to unforeseen reasons. António conveyed Lourenço's regrets, stating, "He would have loved to be here but for unforeseen reasons, he could not make it to Kericho but he sent you a warm greeting."
Lourenço, accompanied by his wife, Ana Dias Lourenço, arrived in Kenya on Thursday evening, as confirmed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. However, at the event, it was Ambassador Tete who represented the Angolan President, expressing warm regards on his behalf, without disclosing the reason for his absence. "On behalf of President João Lourenço, I would first like to convey his apologies. He would have loved to be here but for unforeseen reasons, he couldn't make it to Kericho. He sends you very warm greetings, thanking for the warm reception we always have been granted whenever we come to Kenya," stated Ambassador Tete.
