Kenya's Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing'Oei on Saturday aligned Kenya with the initiative that seeks an end to the conflict.

Kenya has voiced strong support for a joint initiative by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to establish a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and widespread destruction in Gaza and other parts of Palestine, triggering an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

Kenya's Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing'Oei on Saturday aligned Kenya with the initiative that seeks an end to the conflict.

"We associate ourselves fully with this important initiative that seeks to halt the Israel-Hamas conflict that has led to wanton killings and destruction in Gaza and elsewhere in Palestine and triggered an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, " Sing'Oei said.

"We urge the parties to make whatever compromise necessary to secure a permanent ceasefire."

The joint statement from Qatar, Egypt, and the US, released in Doha, called on Hamas and Israel to finalise an agreement based on principles outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024.

Acting as mediators, Qatar, Egypt, and the US highlighted the necessity for compromises to achieve a permanent ceasefire and end the crisis. The proposed roadmap seeks to bring peace to the region by resolving key issues and facilitating humanitarian aid.

Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said on Saturday that mediators hope all parties will deal positively with the principles of the Gaza ceasefire proposal.

These principles are designed to address the key demands of all parties involved, proposing a comprehensive deal that serves multiple interests. The proposed agreement aims to bring immediate relief to the people of Gaza, who have suffered immensely from the conflict.

The roadmap outlined in the deal seeks to achieve a permanent ceasefire and provide a framework for ending the crisis.

Egypt and the US emphasised the imperative for Hamas and Israel to demonstrate flexibility and goodwill in pursuit of a resolution.

The mediators stressed seizing the current opportunity to de-escalate tensions and pave a path towards sustainable peace and stability.
