No survivors as 14 killed after truck hits matatu at Nakuru’s Migaa blackspot

According to Police Spokesman Michael Muchiri, all 12 passengers in the matatu and two people from the truck died in the crash.
At least 14 people lost their lives early Friday morning when a truck crashed into a matatu at Migaa on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Police said the accident occurred at 3 am when the truck rammed into a Kitale Shuttle matatu before dragging it for some distance.

According to Police Spokesman Michael Muchiri, all 12 passengers in the matatu and two people from the truck died in the crash.
“The victims included nine males, four females, and a child,” Muchiri said.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene but found no survivors. The bodies were taken to the mortuary for post-mortem as police commenced investigations.
Migaa is a known blackspot, and Muchiri urged drivers to be extra cautious when using the route.
Traffic accidents have been on the rise in the country despite ongoing efforts to curb the trend.
Statistics show that 4,282 people were killed in accidents between January and November 2024, compared to 3,901 during the same period in 2023.
The number of reported accidents also increased from 20,191 in 2023 to 21,620 in 2024.
