The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has announced that the National Job Recruitment Programme remains suspended until further notice.
Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua on Friday reaffirmed that the suspension, which took effect on November 27, 2024, is still in place despite some job seekers continuing to turn up at recruitment stations.

Mutua clarified that the only ongoing recruitment drive is the Kisumu one, scheduled for February 7-8, 2025, during the Nyanza Investment Conference.
This recruitment targets job seekers from Nyanza counties, and no other hiring activities are currently taking place under the ministry's mandate.
"Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the earlier recruitment schedule, which was set to run until February 20, 2025, and to rely solely on official communication from the Ministry for any future updates," Mutua said.
He assured that further details on the next steps would be communicated in due course.
In November 2024, the government temporarily halted the overseas job recruitment exercise to speed up the processing of over 5,931 applications already received.
The exercise, conducted in six counties, attracted an overwhelming response, with many job seekers, particularly youth, eyeing opportunities in Gulf countries.
"Given the high turnout, there is a need to pause the process temporarily to ensure that the recruiting agencies, who have received over 5,900 applications, can effectively process all the applications," Mutua stated.
He further explained that the suspension would allow the government to align the recruitment process with the needs of job seekers and recruitment agencies, ensuring a more efficient and streamlined approach.
The ministry has urged Kenyans to ignore unofficial recruitment notices and only rely on updates provided through official government communication channels.
