KRA to begin nationwide tax exemption vetting for persons with disabilities on June 9

“NCPWD in collaboration with the KRA and the MoH, will be carrying out tax exemption vetting exercises in the following counties on the dates and venues as tabulated below, commencing June 9, 2025,” the official statement said.
The vetting will begin in Kisii County, then move to Kisumu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Garissa, Isiolo, Murang’a, Machakos, and Nairobi in the following weeks.
The final stage will take place at the NCPWD headquarters from June 30 to July 4.
Vetting venues include Kisii Referral Hospital, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital, Kakamega Referral Hospital, Huruma Sub-county in Eldoret, Nakuru County Referral, Tudor Sub-county Hospital, Garissa County Referral, Isiolo County Referral, Murang’a Level 5, and Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
Only applicants who submitted their tax exemption requests through the e-Citizen platform will be allowed to take part.
They are required to present original disability medical assessment reports, valid tax compliance certificates, and all documents used during their application.
Authorities have also confirmed that those who did not receive an SMS invitation are still eligible for vetting, provided their eCitizen status reads either ‘Verification’ or ‘In Process’.
Parents and caregivers of persons with disabilities are not included in the current exercise.
“We wish to inform all parents and caregivers of persons with disabilities that you are currently not eligible to apply or be vetted for the Income Tax exemption in the upcoming vetting exercise. Once these are finalised and officially released, we will communicate the application and vetting process,” the notice said.
Those who pass the vetting will be officially granted tax-exempt status, allowing them to benefit from relief on income, purchases, and essential services.
