Murkomen assures CJ Koome of safety amid security withdrawal concerns
The CS explained that the security officers had not been withdrawn for any malicious reason, but rather had been promoted and sent for further training.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has publicly reassured Chief Justice Martha Koome of her safety, following her concerns over the recent withdrawal of her security detail.
This statement comes just hours after CJ Koome raised an alarm, expressing fears about a possible scheme against her following the removal of her security personnel.

Murkomen addressed the issue during the launch of the National Government Administration Police Unit (NGAP) in Diani on Friday.
The CS emphasised that it was unfortunate that the Chief Justice had taken the matter to the public, adding that the situation had been misinterpreted.
There’s no scheme whatsoever to undermine Chief Justice Martha Koome or the Judiciary. What happened was a matter of three police officers assigned to the CJ who had been promoted and were leaving for training.

He explained that the security officers had not been withdrawn for any malicious reason, but rather had been promoted and sent for further training.
"The officers were promoted and are now away for training," Murkomen clarified. "There is absolutely no scheme against the Chief Justice, and any claims suggesting otherwise are unfounded."
While Murkomen acknowledged the concerns raised by the CJ, he stressed that the government's actions were in line with normal security protocols and staffing changes.
He further reassured the public and the judiciary that CJ Koome's safety was not at risk, emphasising that the government remained committed to ensuring the security of all public officers, including the Chief Justice.
The CS also expressed the government's support for CJ Koome and reaffirmed that her safety would always be a priority.
