As tributes continue to pour in, Injendi will be remembered as a dedicated leader whose contributions to education and governance left a lasting mark on the country.

The passing of Malava Member of Parliament Moses Malulu Injendi has shaken Kenya’s political and education sectors, with leaders paying tribute to a man whose service and advocacy for reform have left a lasting impact.

Leaders across the country, including President William Ruto, have praised his unwavering dedication to public service, especially his advocacy for education reform and better governance.

The President, in his message of condolence on Monday, described Injendi as a towering leader who selflessly served the people of Malava and was passionate about equal opportunities for all.

“A believer of equal opportunities, Mheshimiwa was diligent, focused and devoted to public service. He will best be remembered for his passion for education. Our prayers are with the family, friends and the people of Malava at this painful time. Rest In Peace, My Friend,” Ruto said in a tweet.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula also expressed profound sadness at Injendi’s passing, highlighting his tireless efforts in advancing education and supporting key sectors like the sugar industry.

“His tireless efforts and contribution to our legislative processes, particularly in the education sector and the sugar industry, aimed at improving the lives of the Kenyan people, will be deeply missed,” he added.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi acknowledged Injendi’s long service, noting that his three-term tenure was a testament to the confidence Malava residents had in his leadership.

“Malulu was serving his third term as MP, a feat that underlined the great confidence the people of Malava had in his leadership, earning him a continuous stint in the National Assembly. Our hearts go out to the family of Malulu, his constituents, friends, and Kenyans who interacted with him in the course of his duties following this sad loss.”

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi also expressed his deep sorrow, describing Injendi as a passionate and principled leader whose contributions to the education sector would have a lasting impact.

Mudavadi recalled Injendi’s tenure as Vice Chair of the National Assembly’s Education & Research Committee and his dedication to improving education policy. He also noted that Injendi had been elected under the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party, which he led for nearly a decade, and was serving his third term—an indication of the trust and confidence his constituents had in him.

“Passionate, principled, and tireless in his advocacy, he worked relentlessly to uplift his people and advance education policy. His contributions in shaping key legislation will leave a lasting impact on Kenya’s education sector and beyond,” Mudavadi said.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah described Injendi as a committed leader who worked tirelessly for his constituents.

“His dedication to serving Malava and his unwavering commitment to uplifting his constituents were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working alongside him in Parliament,” he said.

“I was honoured to serve with him and will always remember his passion, integrity, and tireless advocacy for the people. His legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. During this difficult time, my deepest condolences go to his family, loved ones, and the entire Malava community. May they find strength in the memories of his remarkable life and service,” Ichung’wah added.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa described Injendi as a level-headed and selfless leader. “He exemplified effective leadership through his level-headedness, selflessness, and dedication as a parliamentarian, consistently articulating his perspectives with clarity and conviction,” Barasa said.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah described Injendi as a selfless leader whose impact extended beyond his constituency.

“His untimely demise is a great loss not only to his family and the people of Malava but also to the entire nation. Injendi was a dedicated and selfless leader who tirelessly served his constituents with passion and commitment. His contributions to the development of Malava and his advocacy for better governance will be remembered for years to come,” Omtatah said.

Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang described his life as one dedicated to service and faith. He acknowledged Injendi’s devotion to his constituents and the impact he had on those he served.

“We give thanks for a life so well lived to God’s glory and in service to others. Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints. May the Lord comfort his family, friends, and the people he served with such devotion,” he said.

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe also hailed Injendi’s dedication to public service, describing him as a leader with a visionary approach to uplifting his constituency.

“Injendi embodied unwavering dedication and selflessness, devoting his life to uplifting the Malava constituency with humility and visionary purpose,” Mugabe said.

Ugenya MP David Ochieng reminisced about his first encounter with Injendi, describing him as a humble and independent-minded leader.

“So sad. I met him for the first time on the 28th of March 2013 on our swearing-in as first-term MPs. A humble man, deeply committed to the people of Malava. Loved and promoted education. Unassuming. Independent,” Ochieng said.

As tributes continue to pour in, Injendi will be remembered as a dedicated leader whose contributions to education and governance left a lasting mark on the country.
