One of the organisation's founders Emeritus Chief Justice Willy Mutunga challenged Kituo to remain a focal point "where the poor and marginalized can walk in and get free legal aid without bureaucracy".
"Proud, we served here for 10 years. Struggles against "vagabonds" of idiocy must continue. Haki iwe ngao na mlinzi," he said.
The former CJ on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Kituo Cha Sheria's head office in Nairobi where he was received by the Executive Director Dr. Annette Mbogoh, Kituo BOD chairperson Mr. Justus Munyithya, other board members and the secretariat.
The team briefed him on the current state of affairs and the many projects and programs that Kituo is currently implementing.
Since its inception, Kituo has had a great impact on the promotion of access to justice through legal empowerment, strengthening and collaboration with justice institutions and provision of direct legal services that have positively influenced the lives of indigent and marginalized communities.
The other founders of the organisation include former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Lady Justice Mary Ang'awa, Dr David Gachuki, Rtd. Judge Vitalis Juma, Murtaza Jaffer and Steven Adere.
