Raila will be remembered as Kenya’s stabiliser and champion of peace – CoG chair
The Governor emphasised Raila’s role in guaranteeing political peace in the country and called on leaders to emulate him by addressing differences through the rule of law.
Wajir Governor and Council of Governors Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi has hailed Raila Odinga as a unifying figure whose commitment to Kenya transcended politics.
Giving a tribute to the late Prime Minister, he described the late leader as the nation’s stabiliser and a teacher of peaceful political resolution.

“Baba will be missed for always putting Kenya first. Baba has taught African leaders that whatever political grievances you have, none of them is worthy of banning your country, for he always resolved all political grievances, legally and politically,” Governor Ahmed said.
The Governor emphasised Raila’s role in guaranteeing political peace in the country and called on leaders to emulate him by addressing differences through the rule of law.
“So for those of us now left at the platform under the leadership of His Excellency, the President, in honour of Baba Raila, we should vow never to ban Kenya for the sake of politics, and we should vow to deal with all our grievances and differences through the rule of law and through political organisation,” he said.
Highlighting the reach of the Orange Democratic Movement, Governor Ahmed said, “This party, a formidable movement that Raila built, doesn’t have followers only in Nyanza and in Western. It has followers everywhere. In Kenya, it has followers at the Coast, in the North and the North East. It has followers in Maasai. It has followers everywhere, in every former province and in every county in Kenya.”
Governor Ahmed also pledged full support to the party’s interim leadership under Oburu Odinga, Raila’s elder brother.
“We want to assure you of our support, that we will hold ODM together at all costs... The legacy of Raila cannot fade. In his honour, we will ensure that ODM is one,” he said.
The Governor thanked President William Ruto for granting Raila a state funeral befitting his contributions to the nation.
