SHA board names 23 assistant directors following competitive recruitment process
The new leaders are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency and oversight in critical areas of the authority’s operations.
The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board has appointed 23 new Assistant Directors to its senior management team, following a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025.
The appointments aim to bolster operational capacity across all SHA directorates as the authority continues to scale up its mandate of providing financial risk protection and ensuring access to quality healthcare for all Kenyan residents.

The new leaders are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency and oversight in critical areas of the authority’s operations.
Among the directorates represented in the new appointments are Legal Services, Registration and Compliance (County Coordination), Supply Chain Management, Planning and Linkages, Benefits Management, Fund Management, Finance and Accounts, Administration, Human Resource Management and Development, Customer Experience, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Provider Management, and Internal Audit.
Some of the appointees include Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba as Assistant Director of Legal Services, Adow Osman Ahmed for Registration and Compliance (County Coordination), Moindi Kevin Omai for Supply Chain Management, Douglas Odhiambo Owino for Planning and Linkages and Beatrice Chelangat Kimalel.
Others are Mercy Kamene Mutua, James Leiro Letangule, Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa, Samira Swaleh, Irene Jepngetich Rono, Mohamed Elmi, Callista Kendi Omwenga, Timothy Musyoka Malusi, Khadija Ali Juma, Maureen Cherwon, Brian Muriithi Mugambi, Julius Kiamba Muli, Fardosa Abdi Ali, Gilbert Mogambi Osoro, Julia Ouko, James Tama Musyoka, Irene Akinyi Ng’ong’a, and Samson Nthei Mutuku, covering the full range of directorates.
In a statement, Dr Abdi Mohamed, Chairperson of the SHA Board, expressed appreciation to staff for their commitment and support during the interim senior management period.
“This expansion of the senior management team injects a wealth of experience into the Authority's ranks,” the statement said.
"The Board takes this opportunity to express its deep appreciation to the dedicated staff for their unwavering support and commitment to the interim senior management team throughout this critical transition period."
