At least 11 Kenyatta University students died on Monday in an accident during a field trip to Mombasa County, according to reports from various sources.
It was said that the third-year public health students were on their way from the main campus when their school bus collided with a truck near Maungu in Voi, along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

Preliminary reports indicated that the crash occurred as the truck, heading to Nairobi, crossed paths with the bus carrying the students.
The reports stated that at least 42 wounded students were taken to the Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi.
Students took to social media and WhatsApp groups to mourn their schoolmates.
“Let us keep them in our prayers, alongside the injured students,” one wrote.
Another said, “So sad. May their souls rest in peace.
Authorities said they were investigating the cause of the accident.
In Bomet County earlier on Monday, at least five people were killed and 18 injured in an accident on Olonguruone-Silibwet Road.
A police report said a matatu rammed into a tractor at Salaek village.
In Wajir County, one person died while two were injured when a police car and a taxi collided between Eldas and Baladamin.
