The death toll resulting from the ongoing El Niño rains has reached 165, with an additional five fatalities reported on Wednesday.
The government disclosed that floods have displaced 107,843 households, affecting around 539,215 individuals. Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura extended sincere condolences to grieving families and urged Kenyans to remain vigilant, comply with alerts, and cooperate with evacuation teams to prevent further casualties.

Taita Taveta, Migori, and Meru counties are the most severely impacted, and Lamu and Tana River counties are likely to join the list due to the expected continuation of floods. Mwaura highlighted significant destruction in Lamu County, including roads, farms, homesteads, bridges, schools, and a chief's office.
The government is actively responding to the crisis, with affected families being relocated to the Moa area of Lamu, where essential supplies, including food and water treatment items, have been delivered. Additionally, medical supplies, including Cholera kits, have been sent to Lamu, Kilifi, and Mombasa counties due to reported Cholera outbreaks.
