Changes expected in the country
Mbadi is an accountant by profession and is the current chairman of the opposition ODM party. He is also a nominated MP.
If vetted, ODM would conduct an election to replace him as chairman.
ODM will also seek to replace Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho as deputy party leaders.
Oparanya is the immediate former governor of Kakamega County and the former Minister of Planning in the late President Mwai Kibaki's government.
Hassan Joho was also an assistant minister in the Mwai Kibaki government and the immediate former governor of Mombasa County.
In the Ugunja constituency, a by-election will be held to replace Opiyo Wandayi as MP, as he will have to resign in writing, with the letter addressed to the Speaker of the National Assembly.
ODM will also seek to replace him as the minority leader in the National Assembly.
