Details about Beatrice Askul Moe, Turkana's first woman to land Cabinet slot

President William Ruto on Tuesday nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community and Regional Development.
The nomination was announced through a communique by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei. Moe’s name has been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting.

“The President has transmitted the nominations for appointment to Cabinet to the National Assembly for consideration and approval in fulfilment of the legal requirements set out under our nation's supreme law,” reads the statement.
Moe is a Social Scientist and a Consultant, having served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Irrigation, Agriculture and Land Reclamation under the Turkana County Government.
She has also served as a Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Technical Committee of the Valley Water Services Board, and Chairperson of the Audit Committee for the Rift Valley Water Services Board.
Moe was also a project officer for the AMREF Kenya Turk Project and the Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.
She has specialised skills in the development management of community affairs, towards behavioural and social change in communities.
Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science (Social Work) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Governance and Ethics.
She has also undertaken various certifications training including a County Induction Course at Kenya School Government (Turkana County Government), and a corporate Governance Course (CGC) while serving as a member of Rift Valley Water Service Board.
If vetted and approved, Moe will replace Peninah Malonza who was sacked by President Ruto early this month.
