The youth seek to push for the ouster of President William Ruto, whom they accuse of failing to heed their demands including better governance,, ending corruption, abductions and killings.
President William Ruto's 19 Cabinet Secretaries are currently being sworn in at State House, Nairobi, after they were cleared by the National Assembly's Committee on Appointments. However, at the same time, protests titled Nane Nane are also set to be held across the country.

9:00 am: President William Ruto and other state officials arrive at State House for the swearing of Cabinet Secretary nominees.
8:36 am: Shops along Tom Mboya Street in the Nairobi Central Business District remain closed.
8:31 am: Police vehicles are parked at the junction of Moi Avenue and Tom Mboya Street. Officers are patrolling the streets ahead of expected protests in the city.

Activists and the youth have insisted that protests dubbed #NaneNane, coined from the date August 8, are still on.

Meanwhile, 19 CS nominees will be sworn in at State House, Nairobi, from 9 am.
Ruto had nominated 20 CSs but the committee rejected Gender CS nominee Stella Soi, arguing that she was not competent to hold her post.
