Ruto calls for thorough investigation into Hillside Endarasha Academy fire tragedy

President William Ruto has directed relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the tragic fire incident that occurred at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County yesterday night.

"This is devastating news. I instruct relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this horrific incident," Ruto stated on Friday, further promising to hold those responsible accountable.
Ruto also announced that the Interior Ministry, under the leadership of Kithure Kindiki, will be tasked with mobilising the necessary support for the affected families.
“The government under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government is mobilising all the necessary resources to support the affected families," he added.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta also expressed his deepest condolences to the families, friends, and entire community of Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, Nyeri County, following the devastating fire.
"The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described. My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss," said Uhuru.
He also wished for a swift recovery for all the injured children, praying for God's healing and strength as they recover physically and emotionally from the traumatic event.
Following the tragic fire, the Kenya Red Cross, in coordination with a multi-agency response team, has been actively involved in rescue efforts.
According to the organisation, 11 children were transported to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital for treatment.
