Security agencies traveling from Hagadera to Garissa narrowly escaped an improvised explosive device (IED) attack targeting their vehicle. Officers reported that the lorry, carrying only a few personnel, encountered the explosive on the road.

"The explosive only hit the rear tire. Fortunately, no one was injured," stated a senior security official, who requested anonymity as he is not authorized to speak to the media. Another land cruiser following the lorry retaliated by firing at the attackers, who fled into the nearby bushes.

The Dadaab Garissa Road has experienced a series of IED attacks on security agencies in recent times. Just last week, a man and his son lost their lives when their vehicle triggered an explosive near Ege Dam, close to Hagadera.

Authorities continue to grapple with the challenge of maintaining security in the region amid persistent threats from these attacks.
