Bitok also highlighted that Kenya had surpassed other nations, including Rwanda, which manages over 700 digital services, and many European countries, in integrating such a vast number of public services onto a single platform.
The government has reported an expansion of services on the e-Citizen platform from 354 to 18,000, making Kenya the first country in the world to achieve such a milestone.
Speaking during a meeting at the Immigration offices in Nairobi, Immigration Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said the milestone has positioned Kenya as a global leader in digitised public services.

He said the platform alone generates Sh300 billion in revenue, with an additional Sh100 billion collected from other immigration functions.
Bitok also disclosed that the e-Citizen initiative contributed a total of Sh400 billion in revenue during the 2023/2024 financial year.
"From 354 services on e-Citizen, we are now delivering 18,000 services digitally. This has resulted in the government collecting Sh300 billion from e-Citizen alone, with an additional Sh100 billion from other immigration functions. This makes e-Citizen one of the top-performing revenue collection platforms," he said.
Bitok also highlighted that Kenya had surpassed other nations, including Rwanda, which manages over 700 digital services, and many European countries, in integrating such a vast number of public services onto a single platform.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi noted the efficiency of the immigration services provided through the platform.
He emphasised that in the 2023/2024 financial year, the State Department issued 539,810 passports, 28,121 work permits, 186,892 temporary permits, 566,294 visas and 666,475 electronic travel authorisations.
PS Bitok added that the department has also given out 1,002 Citizenship certificates, 1,472 Permanent Residence certificates, 824,364 second-generation Identity cards and 972,630 Maisha cards.
“We have also registered 1,168,151 births and 204,498 which is 45 per cent of deaths,” he said.
Mudavadi praised government officers for their dedication to improving service delivery, calling for more collaboration.
"I thank the officers at the State Department for their warm welcome, dedication, and hard work. Your first and last agenda should be to the service of Kenyans. I look forward to us pulling together as measurable outcomes, transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service delivery are key to our nation's prosperity,” he said.
He reiterated that the expansion of the e-Citizen platform marks a significant step in the government's digital transformation agenda, aimed at enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and accountability in public service delivery.
The meeting was attended by Immigration Director-General Evelyn Cheluget, e-Citizen Chief Ambassador Isaac Ochieng, and other senior State Department officials.
