Kenyan drivers invited to apply for 1,000 vacancies in Saudi Arabia

According to Mutua, successful candidates stand to earn an average monthly salary of 1,400 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about Sh50,000.

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced another recruitment opportunity for Kenyan workers in overseas countries.

In his latest announcement, the CS is calling on Kenyan drivers to attend interviews for work in Saudi Arabia.

Through a post shared on X Wednesday morning, the CS announced that a reputable Saudi company is urgently seeking 1,000 drivers with interviews happening between December 18, 2024, and December 20, 2024, at Kabete, Nyeri, and Kenya Coast Polytechnics.

"Requirements include an original driving license and certificates. If you do not have a passport, don't worry! Expedited passport processing will be facilitated," read part of the advertisement.

According to Mutua, successful candidates stand to earn an average monthly salary of 1,400 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about Sh50,000.

In addition, they will receive an array of benefits, including free accommodation, transport, food, and medical care.

"Prepare in advance and, if possible, have the medical fee ready. Successful candidates will travel immediately after completing their medical clearance. This is your chance to secure a job and better your future," he stated.

Candidates are required to pay a one-time medical fee of Sh15,000 after passing the interview stage. Other expenses, including tickets and visa processing, will be fully covered by the recruiting company.

Mutua's initiative builds on his earlier campaigns to increase overseas employment opportunities for Kenyans, which have seen many secure jobs in various industries across Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

While the Middle East has been a controversial destination for migrant workers due to past reports of mistreatment, the government has assured applicants that the welfare of Kenyan workers is a top priority.
