Pictures from the scene of the crash showed significant damage to the helicopter.
Stable condition
Emergency services evacuated the injured to Wajir Hospital. Police have confirmed the three who were on board are in stable condition.
"We are yet to ascertain the cause of the crash, but all victims are receiving medical attention in stable condition," an official familiar with the incident said.
A specialised team of experts were sent to the scene as the probe into the crash commenced.
Although the crash delayed the examinations, the exam materials were eventually loaded onto another helicopter and transported to the designated centres.
North Eastern Regional Commissioner John Otieno while confirming the incident, told reporters that the helicopter developed mechanical problems immediately after take-off.
“It was just taking off to collect examination papers when it crashed leading to injuries of the three people on board,” he said.
