Governor Abdulswamad reshuffles chief officers to improve service delivery

The Mombasa County government has reshuffled the chief officers of various ministries to improve service delivery.

The governor stated in Mombasa County Executive Order Number 2 of 2024 that the changes aim to revitalize the county government's operations and enhance efficiency.

"Having found it both prudent and necessary to reorganise the structure of the county government to fulfil my solemn promises to the people of Mombasa, I, Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir, exercise the power conferred to me by the constitution and the law of the Republic of Kenya, and do hereby order that you read part of the directive," he said.

Abdulswamad further instructed the Department of Water, Climate Change, and Natural Resources to manage the public beach management function in conjunction with parks.

Also, The Department of Transport and Infrastructure will take over management of the public works function going forward.

Engineer Ali Shariff will lead the Department of Transport and Infrastructure in the new changes. Ms Pauline Oginga will head the Department of Trade, Tourism, and Culture, while Ms Gloria Mwasi will take charge of the Department of Education and Vocational Training.

Engineer Albert Keno, formerly the head of transport and infrastructure, will now lead the Department of Water, Climate Change, and Natural Resources. Engineer Mariam Mapenzi will oversee the Department of Lands, Urban Planning, and Housing, and Ms. Rukiya Abdulrahman has been appointed to lead the Department of Public Health.

In addition, Ms Roselyn Randu will head the Department of Blue Economy, Agriculture, and Livestock, and Mr Abdalla Daleno will lead the Department of Governance and Serikali Mtaani.

The Department of Finance and Investment/Executive is under the leadership of Mr Swaleh Mwalima, while the Department of Environment and Social Waste Management is under the supervision of Mr Hamid Nanda.

These strategic appointments are expected to infuse new energy into the respective departments, fostering development and improving service delivery to the public.
