Isiolo residents optimistic ahead of High Court's opening
It is expected to handle civil, succession, election petitions and criminal cases in Isiolo and the neighbouring counties of Samburu and Marsabit.
A section of Isiolo County residents has hailed the expected opening of a High Court next month in the quest to bring services closer to the people and enhance the judiciary's capacity to deliver justice.
This follows a May 29 notice by Chief Justice Martha Koome establishing the Isiolo High Court with supervisory powers over the Chief Magistrates Court, effective July 1.

The High Court will be domiciled at the Isiolo Law Courts building, which also houses the Environment and Land Court.
It is expected to handle civil, succession, election petitions and criminal cases in Isiolo and the neighbouring counties of Samburu and Marsabit.
Led by youth leader Osman Shariff, the group of residents expressed optimism that the new court will enhance the provision of justice to Kenyans in the region.
"It will be a huge relief considering that suspects of major crimes such as murder will no longer need to be taken to Meru for trial," Osman said.
Isiolo Interfaith Network Chairperson Ahmed Sett, a champion of the Alternative Justice System (AJS), said, "We welcome the development, as it will go a long way in the delivery of justice in a range of cases that the trial and Environment courts cannot handle."
