Six choppers deployed to ferry KCSE papers to insecurity-prone areas in North Eastern

The government allocated six helicopters to deliver the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to remote border areas in North Eastern Kenya affected by insecurity.
Aden Roble, the North Eastern Director of Education, stated that the six helicopters would transport the exams to the border areas most impacted by insecurity.

He said the helicopters were distributed with two assigned to each county: Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.
He added that security had been reinforced at examination centres to ensure no disruption for the candidates.
"Our security officers are on the ground, and we are assuring the candidates, invigilators, and supervisors that all is well," he said.
He revealed that 22,244 students were sitting their exams in the region, of which 16,919 are from public schools and 5,325 are from private schools.

He said the government had deployed sufficient security personnel to secure all routes used to deliver the KCSE exams.
"We will not take any chances to ensure the candidates’ exams are disrupted. We have enough security personnel on the ground," he said.
On Saturday at around 11:30 am, a police Land Cruiser heading to Arabia Police Station from Mandera was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) at Qabri Saqira near the Lethi area.
According to a police report, the vehicle was damaged at the front and was towed to Arabia Police Station. The report stated that there were no casualties in the incident, with the Al-Shabaab terror group suspected to be involved.
