This marks Barrow's first visit to Kenya, aimed at bolstering relations between the two nations ahead of the African Union Commission elections in February.

Gambian President Adama Barrow is set to arrive in Kenya for Jamhuri Day celebrations scheduled for Thursday, following an invitation from President William Ruto.

This marks Barrow's first visit to Kenya, aimed at bolstering relations between the two nations ahead of the African Union Commission elections in February.

The visit comes shortly after Raila Odinga travelled to Banjul in late November to lobby for Barrow's support in his bid for the AUC chairmanship.

During the trip, Odinga met Vice President Mohammed Jallow, who indicated that Gambia would back his candidacy.

However, President Barrow was unavailable at the time, as he was on a development tour in rural Gambia.

The Jamhuri Day celebrations will be held at Uhuru Gardens, with tight security anticipated.

President Ruto will preside over the event, where President Barrow will be a guest of honour.
