Kindiki reverses order cancelling licences of nine private security firms

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has reversed the cancellation of nine private security firms' licences by the Private Security Regulations Authority (PSRA).
The licences were cancelled in a notice published on February 5, alongside certificates of registration, after the companies were accused of breaking four rules in the Private Security Regulation Act No. 13 of 2016.

A notice in the May 1 edition of the My Gov newspaper stated, "It is hereby notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration has revoked Legal Notice No. PSRA/001/2024 dated February 5, 2024, by the Private Security Regulatory Authority, as published in My Gov newspaper on February 6, 2024."
In a notice in that newspaper on January 5, PSRA chief executive Fazul Mahamed explained that the nine companies had not followed the terms and conditions given with their registration certificates.
He said they defied minimum wage rules and contravened Section 33 of the Act by hiring private security officers without guard force numbers, which show they are registered with the PSRA.
The companies affected included Victory Protective Services Africa Limited, Victory Consultants Limited, Bedrock Security Services Limited, Bedrock Security Alarms Systems and Product Limited, and Senaca East Africa Limited.
Others were Hipora Security Solutions Limited, Salama Fikira International (Kenya) Limited, Marco Security Limited and Superb Marketing Solutions Limited.
