CS Joho: Those who try to break ODM will be the ones to leave

Joho, a long-time ODM member, said the values and principles of the party, instilled in him by Raila, must continue to guide members.
Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has vowed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will not tolerate anyone trying to divide the party, warning that such individuals will be removed.
Speaking during the funeral service of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo, Joho also reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Raila, recalling how the late leader gave him opportunities despite his non-political family background.

“I was a very young man from Kisauni, where nobody knew who I was. I went to see Raila and he held my hand. I became an MP, a governor, and now I am a Cabinet Secretary,” Joho said, describing how Raila shaped his political journey on Sunday.
The CS emphasised that his loyalty to Raila remains steadfast even after the former Prime Minister’s death.
“I have never betrayed Raila while he was alive and I will not betray him even in death. I cannot be where Raila did not take me. I was taken to the government of William Ruto by Raila, and that is where I belong and that’s where I will stay,” Joho said.
Joho, a long-time ODM member, said the values and principles of the party, instilled in him by Raila, must continue to guide members.
“The values of ODM were instilled in me by Raila, and whoever tries to divide the party is the one that will leave ODM,” he said.
The Mining CS admitted that Raila’s passing left him at a loss for words, describing it as one of the hardest moments of his life.
“For a long time, I have never been in a situation where I have struggled to think about what to say. I want to take this opportunity to pray for Raila. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
The CS also made it clear that the party will remain strong and unified.
“ODM people, I have heard you. As a member, the values and principles of the party have been put in me by Raila Odinga in my heart. I want to tell you, whoever thinks that he will break the ODM Party, it will be them that will be chased away and the party will remain standing and firm. If you try to break the ODM party, it will be you who will leave,” Joho said.
Raila will be laid to rest at the family home in Kang’o Ka’Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County, following a state funeral attended by both national and international leaders.
