Ethiopian Airlines has resumed flights to Port Sudan
The airline announced this in a post on X, signalling its commitment to expanding its regional network following disruptions caused by conflict and operational challenges in Sudan.

"Ethiopian Airlines is delighted to announce the reinstatement of its flight to Port Sudan, Sudan. Starting from October 15, 2025. The airline will operate a daily flight to Port Sudan (PZU) and increase its frequency to double daily starting from November 1, 2025," the airline said on Wednesday night.
The flight was suspended due to security concerns in connection with the civil war in the country.
Since the eruption of conflict between Sudan's military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023, the Sudanese government has been administering the country from a temporary seat in Port Sudan.
The route was opened after Ethiopian Airlines suspended flights to Asmara, complaining about the difficult operational conditions in Asmara.
Port Sudan remains a viable hub for Airlines due to the ongoing conflict in the country, which has made other parts of the country unusable.
The airline has also suspended flights to Madagascar due to political unrest and an attempted coup in the country.
Other Airlines that have suspended flights to the Island nation include Air France, Emirates, Kenya Airways and other major carriers that have suspended or cancelled flights to the island nation.
