Ruto reassigns key principal secretaries to diplomatic posts in surprise shake-up

The changes are contained in President William Ruto’s Executive Order No. 1 of 2025.

President William Ruto has reshuffled his administration, reassigning key principal secretaries to diplomatic postings in what is widely seen as a demotion.

Trade PS Alfred Kombudo and Shipping & Maritime PS Geoffrey Kaituko have been deployed as deputy ambassadors to Brussels and Italy, respectively.

East African Community PS Abdi Dubat has also been removed from his post and nominated to serve as Consul General in Arusha, Tanzania.
