Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula had earlier officially communicated to the Senate the resolution on Gachagua’s ouster.

The process is in accordance with National Assembly Standing Orders No. 64 and 65 relating to the procedure of removal from office by impeachment.
Gachagua can still appeal the decision in court if the Senate upholds the National Assembly’s vote.

The DP has been assigned two rooms within the complex: one outfitted with advanced security for private calls and another designated as a consultation space for his legal team.
The DP confirmed that he would appear before the National Assembly against what he termed as "outrageous" allegations levelled against him in an impeachment motion.

But Justice Mwongo declined to grant conservatory orders to stop the notice of motion to debate the impeachment of the DP.
The Speaker confirmed that in accordance with requirements of articles 47 and 50 of the Constitution and Standing Order 67, Gachagua will be given an opportunity to appear before the House and defend himself.
